WALKING 55 miles to help raise awareness of Gloucester City’s plight is one Tiger feat that Jim Hart is not afraid to take on.
Hart, the trusts community officer, will don his walking shoes – and the club’s tiger mascot costume – for a sponsored prowl of the club’s nomadic recent route around Gloucestershire.
He will take his seat in the stands for City’s game against Colwyn Bay on Wednesday, March 27 before heading to Meadow Park early the next morning.
He will then head to Forest Green Rovers’ New Lawn and Cirencester’s Corinium Stadium before heading back to Whaddon Road.
He aims to arrive shortly before kick-off in the Tigers’ March 30 game against Histon – having hopefully secured some much-needed cash in the process.
Hart is also going to use his role as community officer to help energise new supporters to flock to games, knowing that in their current plight every penny will aid the cause.
“I want to use my role to energise people so that they put their hands in their pockets and raise some cash to help the club,” Hart said.
“But also through getting people to come to games and raise some income for the club, jumping in the car, getting on a bus or train and paying £12 over the gate – it all helps.
“Then also we have two home games in three days at the end of the month – and I thought that’s a good time limit to do this walk.
“We’ve had three different homes since the flooding and it shows how far the fans have had to travel in that time.”
